Where the Chibnall era has been characterized by its secrecy, it’s a little harder to keep the details of the 60th anniversary story hidden with filming on location in Camden, Cardiff and Bristol. Where the Centennial Special has some hugely successful monsters returning, it appears that RTD has picked some darker characters for the Tenth Doctor and Woman to fight.
One of the unannounced but widely reported sightings was an alien resembling Beep the Meep, an adorable and cuddly would-be conqueror who has only appeared previously in Doctor who comics in the 70s. In addition to Beep, we also spotted Wrath Warriors, fighting the Meep Armada. It’s a deep cut (Meep?) For an anniversary.
Even more intriguing, Neil Patrick Harris recently shot his first scenes in public, enjoying the chaos of a London street riot in top hat and tails. With the production also dressing a showcase like Mister Emporium’s toy store, fans speculate that he plays a new version of the Celestial Toymaker.
Originally played by Michael Gough, this powerful immortal last appeared in 1966, threatening William Hartnell’s First Doctor and threatening a rematch that never came … until now?
